the trees already know

leafless limbs
flung against
pearl gray sky

capture my senses
tease my heart
into the
open

Oak and cherry
white pine and ash
tumble rough and smooth
against
gray and ashy brown

slender and knobbly
dance with
resinous and sharp

a few tenacious
latte leaves
still shiver
on their
woody hosts

I could loose myself
following the strands
of this deciduous
coniferous lace

tracing thousands
of branches
trunk to
tip

discovering
patterns
anomalies
samenessess
with my
wildly branching
vessels
crazed
aging-woman
skin

beauty
in
commonality

home
in
kin

finding
myself
by losing
myself

ground-truthing
interconnectedness

proving
what the
trees
already know
