Writing Circles

Ongoing Writing Circles: Community, Creativity, Respite

Your home for writing yourself back into your Self.

I write out of my anger and into my passion.

Terry Tempest Williams

We know from evidence-based research and empirical observation that creating with words can be transformative. Whether we are writing about or out of joy or pain, boredom or anger, delight or despair, the act of writing offers us the power to create, to heal, and to connect.

Saturday Writing Circle

Join us!

Writer and distinguished scholar Louise deSalvo says, “It’s not what you produce as you write that’s important; it’s who you become as you write that’s important.”

In this circle, we write to remember—and to celebrate—our Selves in the face of an off-kilter world.

A typical meeting begins with a gentle guided visualization, followed by two cycles of writing (catalyst quotes and prompts are offered) and (entirely optional) sharing.

We meet virtually on the 1st and 3rd Saturday every month from 10 am to 11:30 am New York time. These circles are islands of respite and joyful, kind community.

Cost: Honor system, pay-what-you-can, $10 – $35 USD per session.

Join the email list for the writing circle so every other week I can send you:

  • the zoom link
  • payment details
  • a follow-up email with the inspirations and catalysts used that day.

(This only subscribes you to a list specifically for the writing circles. If you’d like to stay connected you can sign up for my free Substack letter here.)

Honoring Love in All Its Forms: Writing a Tribute Poem for Valentine’s Day

Selecting one person you would like to celebrate, we will work together to create a piece of writing that highlights the unique qualities, experiences, and flavors that make them who they are — and inspires you to love them. The tribute may be for a friend, child, teacher, neighbor, parent, or even your cat.

Regardless of whether you gift the writing to its subject, you may find the process of writing the tribute will connect you more deeply to your felt experience of love. You may want to bring photographs, but it isn’t required. Your memory and open heart are all that is needed.

Interested? Let me know using my contact form and I’ll send you the link to join us!

Wednesday Embodied Writing Circle

Come write with us!

We believe you deserve room in your life to write whether you’re writing for yourself or for publication.

Embodied Writers offers a place to land every week devoted to you, your words, and a community of supportive women writers.

We’ll anchor our writing time with embodiment practices to keep our work rooted in our intentions and guided by our innate wisdom—and to help release the tension that builds in the hands, neck, shoulders, and back as we sit and write.

Hosted by Tracie Nichols and Liz Chesla, we meet virtually on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday every month from 11 am to 12:30 pm New York time.

Cost: Honor system, pay-what-you-can, $10 – $35 USD per session.
